Sam Wood has been ruled out for up to 10 weeks after scan results revealed he has sprained his knee ligaments.
“He’s got a slight groin problem,” said Waddock. “He’s had it during the course of pre-season, but the only real cure is rest so we may give him a few days off.”
Meanwhile, fellow midfielder Matt Bloomfield could miss Saturday’s visit of Bristol Rovers after coming off after an hour in midweek.
The club would like to wish Sam all the best in his recovery.
“He had the scan results yesterday (Wednesday) – it’s not as bad as we first feared but it’s still a nasty injury and he will be out for a while.”
Blues boss Gary Waddock said: “We are disappointed for Woody because he’s done very well since joining the club.
The all-action midfielder was replaced just before half-time in Tuesday’s clash with Gillingham at Adams Park.
