Lewis taking it one game at a time

21 August 2012

Stuart Lewis says Wycombe will not be getting carried away with their impressive start to the season.

Blues more than matched Championship side Watford in the Capital One Cup before securing a well-deserved 3-1 victory at newly-promoted York City.

However, the midfielder says the squad will not look too far ahead and will concentrate on each game as it comes, starting with his former club Gillingham tonight (k.o 7.45pm).

Speaking in tonight’s edition of 1887, Lewis said: “We came back in with a fresh approach, sat down, cleared our minds and said let’s go for it this year.

“Pre-season was excellent and the togetherness is there. I think that shows in the first two performances, but now we have to take that into the coming games and really stick together, through the good times and bad.

“Talk is cheap though and it’s only results that matter. Maybe there was a bit too much talk last year, but this time we will be taking it each game at a time and thinking about attacking each one.

“We won’t win every game, but if we play as well as we can then there is no reason why we can’t have a good year.”

Tonight’s 68-page edition of the new-look programme contains the full and exclusive interview with Lewis and much, much more. Pick up your copy for £3 from the usual outlets around the ground.
