Friendships out the window for Wood

6 August 2012

Sam Wood says friendship will count for nothing when the Wanderers host his former side Brentford on Tuesday (k.o 7.30pm).

The winger joined Wycombe last month after a four-year spell at the Bees during which the west London side secured promotion to League 1.

“Sam Saunders is the main person I speak to a lot and I talk to a few others on Twitter every now and then, but it’s the football circle,” Wood told wwfc.com.

And the 25-year-old revealed he is relishing going up against some familiar faces.
“When you move on you still stay friends and speak to people even though you aren’t there anymore.  It’s just the way football is and everyone knows everyone.

“I’ve spoken to a few of them leading up to the game, having a bit of banter, but when it comes to the game you need to focus on that. When you cross that white line there are no friends in football.”  You can see Wood and his team-mates in action
