Doherty: Right a few of the wrongs

24 August 2012

Blues skipper Gary Doherty has called on his Wycombe team-mates to put right the wrongs of Tuesday’s 1-0 defeat to Gillingham when Bristol Rovers visit Adams Park on Saturday (k.o 3pm).

Wanderers went into that game full of confidence following an impressive 3-1 win at York City, but they struggled to impose themselves after falling behind early in the second half.

“The difference against York was that we got Bloomy’s goal quite early on and that gave us something to defend,” Doherty told Chairboys Player.

“When you lose a game you want another one just around the corner. Thankfully it’s another home game so we can put it right. Hopefully we can get an early goal to hold onto and build on.

Doherty added: “There are a few things we need to work on. Our reactions to Gillingham’s goal weren’t good enough and that cost us.

“We need to score when we’re on top as well. Towards the end of the first half we were playing well and passing it around. We created a few chances but nothing really broke to us in the box which was disappointing, but sometimes you have nights like that.”

Tickets for the visit of Bristol Rovers start from just £16 for adults , £13 senior citizens, £11 students and £5 juniors.
