Former Chairboy Ben Strevens says he is expecting a tough test on his first return to Adams Park tonight (k.o 7.45pm).
‘Strevs’ was released by Wycombe during the summer and signed a one-year deal with Martin Allen’s Gillingham last month.
The 32-year-old made an instant impact at the Gills, scoring on his debut as they knocked Championship side Bristol City out of the Capital One Cup.
Speaking in tonight’s edition of 1887, Strevens said: “I know this is a tough place to come and get a result so anything we can come away with is going to be a positive result.
“You can’t read too much into pre-season, but we had a good one. I would love to come back and get a win, not just for myself but for the club.
“If we can come here and get a point against a team I expect to be challenging in the top half of the table, then we would probably take that now, although my manager might think differently.
Strevens added: “I used to like playing at Adams Park when here when I was at Dagenham, but after playing here for Wycombe it will be strange coming up against them.
“It will be nice to come back, but it’s probably come around quicker than I had hoped. It will be a good night and it will be good to see a few friendly faces. Hopefully I’ll enjoy the night a bit more than the Wycombe players, but we’ll see.”
