Alex Samuel, a trialist defender and Adebayo Akinfenwa were on the scoresheet as Wanderers overcame Woking 3-2 in their second friendly of pre-season.
Having drawn 1-1 with Barnet three days earlier, the Chairboys continued their unbeaten start against another National League side, who overturned Samuel's early header with a brace from a trialist striker, before one of Wycombe's 11 trialists found the net in the second period.
Akinfenwa then won the game in the closing stages, seeing his initial header fumbled by the keeper before slotting home the rebound from close range.
The Cards had the first sight of goal in the second minute, but the trialist target missed the target from 15 yards after being fed by Jack Skinner.
Skinner then thrashed a low cross-shot against the base of the post from a tight angle, with Wanderers’ experimental line-up struggling to find their rhythm.
But with their first chance, Wycombe took the lead, thanks to the head of Alex Samuel, who expertly steered a cross from the trialist right-back into the far corner on 15 minutes.
However, the scores were level nine minutes later, when a clumsy challenge in the box from a trialist defender presented the chance for Woking’s trialist striker to convert from 12 yards, and his penalty squeezed past the outstretched hand of Cameron Yates and into the bottom corner.
Nick Freeman almost restored the Blues’ advantage, stinging the palms of Sam Howes with a powerful drive from just inside the box, but Woking then completed the turnaround when the trialist striker rose highest to nod home Josh Casey’s inviting cross from the left.
That’s how it stayed until half-time, at which point Gareth Ainsworth made a raft of changes, with Jason McCarthy, and four trialists entering the fray.
Thirteen minutes into the second period, Wycombe levelled through a header from a trialist centre-half, who steered home Jason McCarthy’s cross from deep.
Then came three more substitutions, with Dominic Gape, Alex Pattison and Adebayo Akinfenwa entering the field, and Ryan Allsop followed soon after, with a trialist defender.
Allsop was called into action to expertly deny former Blue Max Kretzschmar a wonder goal from 65 yards, with the Woking man spotting the keeper off his line and sending a superb effort goalwards, only for his former team-mates to tip it onto the bar and over.
The winner came in the final minute, when Allsop's deep free-kick was headed goalwards by Akinfenwa and keeper Craig Ross could only parry it back into the striker's path, giving him a chance he couldn't miss.
3-2 was how it finished, and Wycombe now look ahead to their only home friendly against Brentford at Adams Park on Saturday.
