Experienced forward who joined the Blues in June 2015 following his release from Notts County.

Having started his career with Morecambe, Thompson helped the Shrimps achieve promotion to the Football League and switched to Scunthorpe United, where his partnership with fellow Wanderers star Paul Hayes aided the club's promotion to the Championship via the play-offs in 2009.

A move to Bradford led to the most memorable season in his career in 2012/13, scoring against Arsenal as the Bantams reached the Capital One Cup final and starring in the play-off final to help City win promotion from League 2.

Thompson finished as Notts County's top scorer in League 1 last season, contributing 12 goals as the Magpies suffered relegation, and he moved south to join Wycombe on a two-year contract, scoring his first goals in the 2-0 win at Barnet in August. He netted his 100th career league goal in the 2-2 draw with Portsmouth in November and finished the season as joint top scorer.
