Wycombe Wanderers (MSC) continued their winning streak with a very hard fought 2-0 win against a much improved Oxford Utdat Fairford Leys on Wednesday.

The first half was a very tight affair with Oxford having more of the ball and Wycombe relying on the break away to create chances, Oxford did have a goal disallowed on 25mins through offside and this seemed to be the turning point in Wycombe's play, we managed to get our 2 front runners Shane Wyllie and Martin Dyer more service and their hold up play is improving with each game. This allowed Gareth Aldridge and Jack Thomsom to support well from midfield and this pressure told after 40mins with Shane Wyllie finishing well after a sloppy back pass, in truth Wycombe were very lucky to lead at the break 1-0.

The 2nd half saw a different Wycombe take to the pitch, they managed to up their tempo and urgency and produced some good passing and moving resulting in plenty of free kicks. One of these free kicks was delivered well by Gareth after 60mins, this allowed Gianni Marrotta to rise well above the Oxford defence and crash a superb header against the bar, luckily Martin Dyer was on hand to place the rebound home. The remainder of the game saw Oxford push for a goal but Wycombe held on well and could have added to the score line with various counter attacks.

A very good result sees us remain joint 2nd on goal difference, with a very important game against Stevenage Borough on Wednesday 27th Feb.
