CLUB CELEBRATE STUDENTS SUCCESS

Posted on: Tue 22 Jun 2010

Children from four Buckinghamshire schools celebrated their graduation from the club's 'Playing for Success' programme at Adams Park on Monday evening.

Pupils from Amersham School, Chesham Park Community College, The Wye Valley School (pictured below) and St. Bernard's Catholic School were invited to the ceremony in the Woodlands Lounge to recognise their efforts over the six-week course.

Each successful student was presented with a certificate, a medal and a goody bag which included tickets to Wycombe's first game of the new season against Morecambe, in front of an audience packed full of proud parents.

Attendees were then treated to a fantastic musical performance on the African drums by a group of children from Booker Hill School, before The Matrix's Study Support and Learning Centre guest Cathy Stormonth, business development manager at Bucks County Council, praised the children's success in a closing speech.

Prizes were also handed out to winners of competitions Matrix manager Julie Wilson and her team had run throughout the six weeks.

Club owner Steve Hayes opened the education facility in October 2008, with the aim to use the sporting environment of Adams Park to improve children's literacy, numeracy and ICT skills.
