REPORT: WALKING IN A WEEMES WONDERLAND

Posted on: Wed 12 May 2010
Lee Weemes bagged a brace as Wanderers' Under-18s side ran out 3-1 winners at Luton Town on Saturday.

The Blues got off to the best possible start when Weemes glanced Ryan Ware's inswinging free-kick into the bottom right-hand corner on three minutes.

Things got even better for Wycombe eight minutes later after winger Jerome Federico finished off a good solo run with a neat drive past Colman in the Luton goal.

However, Wycombe weren't finished there. Weemes made it 3-0 on 13 minutes in an almost carbon copy of the first goal. Ware's free-kick found the striker in space and he made no mistake from close range.

Weemes was then handed a golden opportunity to wrap up his hat-trick after being put through one-on-one with the keeper but he blazed his effort over the top.

Luton reduced the arrears on 18 minutes through Matt James but were unable to find another way past the resolute Blues defence and Richard Dobson's men held on for a fairly comfortable victory.

Wanderers host Millwall in their final game of the Football League Youth Alliance on Saturday 8th May at Bisham Abbey.

Wanderers: Cowler, Smith, Styles, Duffy, Cox, Kewley-Graham, Scowen, Lloyd (Taylor 75), Federico, Ware (Olukanmi 70), Weemes.
Subs not used: Stewart, Kretzschmar.
