Wanderers' Under-18s side secured a double for the club on Saturday morning thanks to a 2-1 win at Southend United.
The victory not only boosted their own Youth Alliance League hopes but also helped the reserve side in their quest to be crowned Totesport Combination East Division champions.
Due to a fixture backlog at Roots Hall, it was agreed by Southend, Wycombe and the Totesport Combination that the game would be played as a double header.
Sensing the importance of the fixture, Richard Dobson's youngsters took the game to the league leaders from the first whistle and went very close on a couple of occasions to breaking the deadlock in the opening four minutes.
Firstly striker Lee Weemes saw a header cannon back off the crossbar before Sam Belcher had an effort cleared off the line.
Wanderers continued to dominate and they were rewarded for their pressure on 13 minutes. A smart passing move ended up at the feet Tom O'Regan, who drove a stinging 25-yard shot across the Shrimpers' keeper to put the Blues 1-0 ahead
Despite controlling proceedings throughout, Wycombe had to wait until the 89th minute to increase their lead. Goalscorer O'Regan was upended in the box and midfielder Josh Scowen stepped up to slot home the penalty.
There was still time for the hosts to reduce the arrears from the spot, but Dobson's men held on for a classy win.
