YOUNGSTERS EQUAL RECORD

Posted on: Thu 26 Nov 2009
Wanderers' U18s side equalled their own record of seven straight victories on Saturday morning with a 2-1 win over Peterborough United at Bisham Abbey.

Two quick-fire second half goals from Matt McClure and Jerome Federico set the Blues on their way before the visitors collected a consolation in injury-time.

The first 45 ended goalless despite the Blues controlling proceedings, but Richard Dobson's men got their reward on 57 minutes when McClure lobbed the Posh keeper.

Federico then doubled the Chairboys' lead four minutes later when he finished off a good team move, which included some smart work from Pietro Palladino.

The Blues continued to impress with their slick passing style and the excellent Jess Graham was unlucky to have a goal chalked off for offside after another well-worked Wanderers attack.

Peterborough made it 2-1 in added time from the penalty spot but the Blues held on to claim their 10th win in 11 games and cement their place in the top four in the Puma Youth Alliance.

Richard Dobson told wwfc.com:"Overall I thought it was a competent performance with plenty of positives. Every player had a good game, which is obviously a good sign.

"Before kick-off I challenged them after a below par performance against St Albans in the FA Youth Cup they responded well."
