U18S COMPLETE PERFECT WEEK

Posted on: Mon 09 Nov 2009
Wanderers' U18s side made it three victories in a week on Saturday with a 2-1 win over Northampton Town in the second round of the Youth Alliance Cup.

Goals from Matt McClure and Lee Weemes booked the Blues' place in the quarter-finals, where they will host Peterborough United on Saturday 16th January at Bisham Abbey.

Saturday's win follows victories over QPR in the league and Maidstone United in the first round of the FA Youth Cup.

McClure's close range effort opened the scoring on seven minutes before the hosts levelled at the beginning of the second period.

Resolute second half defending from Richard Dobson's men kept the Cobblers at bay and Northampton were made to pay for their missed opportunities when Lee Weemes side-footed home Tom O'Regan's cross with seven minutes left.

Dobson told wwfc.com: "All in all it's been an excellent week. We beat QPR in the league and we're through in both cup competitions.

"You could see the players tire in the second half on Saturday, but it's a case of job done and now we can look forward to the quarter-final."
