BLUES SMASH THE U'S
By Dale Hurman
The Puma Youth Alliance South East Conference kicked off with the Blues Under 18s facing Colchester United at Bisham Abbey on Saturday. The boys started where they left off last season with an empathic win.
After winning 6-0 in the final game of last season, the Blues youngsters thrashed the U's 5-1 with a hat-trick from George Daly.
The Wanderers started well and took the lead after 14 minutes from a corner, Scott Shulton heading home at the far post. Eleven minutes later the U's drew level when a cross to the back post was headed home.
Within ten minutes the Blues were back in front courtesy of a fine solo effort from Matt Philips. With five minutes of the first half remaining George Daly scored his first and the Wanderers third goal of the game.
A corner wasn't cleared by the Colchester United defence and Daly tucked the ball home after a goalmouth scramble.
The Blues went in three-one up at half-time, it wasn't long before the Blues scored a fourth. On 56 minute Daly helped himself to his second after a fumble from the U's goalkeeper.
Half-way through the second period it was five and some fine play from Calum Botham set up Daly to score and complete his hat-trick.
Wycombe Wanderers line-up: Holloway, Turley, Ellams, Read (Reading D), Brathwaite, Lumdsen, Botham, Shulton, Phillips, Daly (Flitchett), Ogubadu (Pearce D).
