Kadeem Harris was on target for the Wanderers' reserve team on Tuesday night as they suffered their first defeat of the season, going down 2-1 to Ipswich Town.
Tom Eastman put the Suffolk side ahead on the stroke of half-time but Harris' header restored parity eight minutes after the break, before former Manchester United youngster Lee Martin stole the points for the visitors.
Wanderers fielded a strong line-up, including Scott Shearer in goal, Lewis Hunt in defence, Matt Bloomfield in midfield and Stuart Beavon up front, with all four making an impression and getting a valuable 90 minutes under their belts.
Having made the brighter start to the game, the first real chance of the match fell Wycombe's way eight minutes in.
A short corner from the right by Lewwis Spence was not dealt with by Ipswich's back line and the ball fell nicely to Beavon on the edge of the area. The striker's volley was sweet and drilled low towards the bottom corner but, despite taking a slight deflection en route, Wright made a tremendous save to tip it round the post at full stretch.
The visitors' first opportunity came through former Manchester United youngster Martin, who was set free down the right after a wonderfully fluid passing move sucked in most of the Blues' defence.
The Tractor Boys' number 10 cut back inside the penalty area, but his powerful shot did not produce the desired result, thanks to a wonderful reaction stop from Shearer at point-blank range.
After both sides traded half chances midway through the half, Wanderers almost took the lead in spectacular fashion just before the half hour mark.
Spence's cross from the left corner flag looked like it had been headed to safety by Town's defence, but right-back Stuart Green had other ideas; running onto the bouncing ball at full pelt before smashing a half volley on target from all of 30 yards.
It would have been a stunning finish but once again Wright was equal to the challenge, producing a fine diving stop to turn the ball behind for a corner.
Despite continuing to have the better of the possession, the Blues were unable to capitalise and should have gone behind five minutes before the break.
A great through ball by Alan Quinn somehow split the Blues' defence and allowed Martin to wriggle in one-on-one with Shearer but, despite having the whole goal to aim at, the 23-year-old's shot was too close to the Scottish stopper, who made a strong save with his outstretched right foot.
Yet Wycombe did not heed this warning shot and with just a minute left in the half, Ipswich finally broke the deadlock.
A corner from the left was played back to Billy Clarke at the edge of Wanderers' box and the midfielder slipped a pass into Martin on the penalty spot. Despite being surrounded by blue shirts, the striker was able to turn and fire goalwards and, although trialist David Mayer appeared initially to have saved the day with a goal line clearance, the ball fell straight to Town centre-back Eastman, who side footed home from six yards.
Although Reggie Lambe had the first chance of the second period for Ipswich - firing into the side netting from a tight angle just a few minutes in - Wycombe soon carved out a better opening, and thanks to a rare error from Wright they got the equaliser they deserved.
Beavon started the move by winning the ball in the centre circle, before playing a beautifully weighted pass out to Jerome Federico on the right wing.
The youngster's cross should have been claimed by the Tractor Boys' experienced keeper but instead Wright misjudged the flight of the ball, and only succeeded in tipping it over his head into the path of Harris, whose downward header bounced over several despairing challenges and into the net.
Having got back on level terms, Wanderers were unable to create any further chances to keep the momentum swinging their way, and when Ipswich boss Steve Foley brought on David Cawley just after the hour mark, it proved to be an inspired decision.
The substitute produced a couple of excellent touches to collect a pass from Quinn before turning and playing a sublime through ball which put Martin in behind the defence once more.
This time the former Red Devil did not fluff his lines, sending a first time shot across the diving Shearer and into the corner of the net to restore the visitors' lead.
Despite giving it everything in the last 20 minutes, the Blues could not find their way back into the game, and Ipswich held on to avenge their defeat of a week ago and also end the unbeaten run of Wycombe's second string.
