Wanderers' reserve side maintained their unbeaten start to the season with a 3-1 win over Norwich City at York Road.

Luke Oliver set the Blues on their way inside the opening minutes before substitute Kadeem Harris made it 2-0 on the hour mark.

A close-range finish from Canaries striker Danny Kelly reduced the arrears a minute later, but a classy header from substitute Matt McClure secured a well-deserved win for Wycombe.

The Blues made the perfect start on two minutes when Luke Oliver rose highest to head home a Matt Phillips free-kick from six yards out.

Canaries' keeper Declan Rudd, who looked unconvincing throughout, then nearly granted Richard Dobson's men a 2-0 lead when he inadvertently punched the ball onto his far post after an initial flap from a Wanderers corner.

At the other end, the returning Leon Johnson did well to head behind under pressure from Danny Kelly after some tricky wing play from Anthony McNamee.

Steve Arnold was called into action for the first time on 16 minutes, safely gathering the lively McNamee's low shot.

However, it was Wycombe looking the more likely to increase their lead, and trialist Andre Schembri went within inches of finding the bottom right-hand corner after beating defender Jens Berthlel-Askou with ease.

A strong Norwich side began to stamp their authority on proceedings and only a top save from Arnold denied Berthel-Askou an equaliser on the half hour mark. The Norwich no.4 met McNamee's corner with a powerful header but Gary Waddock's fourth signing of the January window was more than up to the challenge.

After an impressive 45 minutes on his return, Leon Johnson was replaced at half-time, along with trialist Andre Schembri, by George Daly and Kadeem Harris.

Matty Phillips' influence on the game was growing by the second and he flashed a shot just wide of Rudd's goal on 52 minutes, while at the opposite end Arnold was alert to push the ball away from the lurking Paul McVeigh.

Inevitably, it was Phillips who would create the Wanderers' second and it came on the hour mark. Firstly, he latched onto the impressive Lewis Montrose's pass down the right-hand side before picking out Harris at the back post, who clinically fired past Rudd from close-range.

Norwich responded immediately and Danny Kelly pulled a goal back a minute later, tapping home a cross from the left-hand side from inside the six-yard box.

The Canaries pressed for an equaliser but substitute Matt McClure all but ended the game as a contest on 78 minutes when he headed a fine Phillips cross past Rudd to round off a stunning Wycombe move and make it 3-1.

McNamee continued to threaten in the closing stages but the Wanderers held firm to claim the three points their strong second half performance deserved.
