Richard Dobson's second string collected their first three points of the season thanks to a 1-0 win over Luton Town.
Ashley Chambers' 20th minute strike was enough to separate the sides at York Road, in game that saw Tommy Doherty play 45 minutes on his return to action following a three-month spell on the sidelines with a hamstring injury.

Crosses from Chambers and Lewwis Spence respectively tested the Hatters' rearguard in the opening minutes before defender Jake Howells was called into action to deny lively winger Kadeem Harris a one on one opportunity with Shane Gore.

Dan Fitchett was then presented with a glorious chance to hand the Blues the advantage on 12 minutes, however, he opted to try and volley Lewwis Spence's teasing cross rather than using his head from the centre of the six-yard box.

Spence continued to offer a good outlet down the left and the 21-year-old went close a minute later with a shot from the edge of the 18-yard box.

Once again, Leicester City loanee Chambers looked sharp and his quick thinking brought about the opening goal on 20 minutes. He seized on a slip by Hatters centre-half Alex Lacey, carried the ball 20 yards and, with the help of a hefty deflection, his effort found its way past Shane Gore to hand the Blues a 1-0 lead.

Richard Dobson's men continued to dominate and Fitchett sent an effort whistling past Gore's right hand post after good work from Lewis Montrose.

Luton were offering next to nothing going forward with Chris Westwood & co holding firm in defence and the returning Tommy Doherty pulling the strings in midfield.

The 'Doc' was replaced at half-time by Sam Belcher but the substitution didn't disrupt the hosts' rhythm, as the Blues started the second period like they did the first, in total control.

Moments after the restart, Harris was handed a good opportunity to open his account for the reserves and make it 2-0 but, after meeting Joe Cobb's cross, the youngster scuffed his volley wide of the target.

The Hatters battled back and Kevin Watson fired a warning shot to the hosts on the hour mark with a well struck effort from the edge of the area.

Luton were growing in stature but, in truth, were still finding it difficult to create any clear cut chances.

Following an improved 10-minute spell for the visitors, the Wanderers soon regained control and both Spence and Montrose went close with efforts from the edge of the Hatters' 18-yard box.

Montrose and substitute Jerome Federico both drew good saves from Gore in a frantic closing minute but the Blues couldn't add to their 1-0 advantage and in the end had to settle for a scoreline which in fairness didn't reflect their dominance.

Wanderers: Young, Grayley, Cobb, Westwood, Saku, Harris, Spence, Doherty, Montrose, Chambers, Fitchett.
