Wycombe's reserves now top the Totesport Combination East Division, after an impressive 1-0 victory away to Southend United on Tuesday afternoon.
Trialist Jake Hyde, nephew of former Wanderers keeper Paul, scored the only goal of a game with a spectacular chip from twenty five yards, after a neat run and pass from the returning Matt Bloomfield.
Hyde had already been denied by United keeper Ian Joyce moments earlier, whilst midfielder Jordan Lumsden headed narrowly over the bar shortly after.
Bloomfield, who played the first 45 minutes less than 24 hours after making a substitute appearance in the F.A Cup, came close himself after a trademark run and shot from distance shortly before the break.
The Blues had to defend desperatly at times in the closing stages but in truth deserved their victory, and a hard earned three points meant they leap-frogged Southend to top the table for the first time this season.
