Wycombe Wanderers continued their extraordinary run in the Pontin's Holiday Combination on Wednesday evening, with a 2-0 victory away to Brighton & Hove Albion.

Goals from Chidi Ogbuagu and Calum Botham made it eight games without loss for the second string, as they ended the league season on a high.

Despite a dominating performance Wycombe could have found themselves behind 22 minutes in, but Jamie Young saved smartly down to his left after a Brighton breakaway.

After that the Blues slowly came back into the game, finishing the half as the stronger side.

The Chairboys came out all guns blazing after the interval and were rewarded ten minutes in when Calum Botham put the Chairboys in front.

The left-winger bent a classy free kick into the top corner of the net from 25 yards, after Dan Fitchett was fouled just outside the box.

Albion never really threatened after that moment, shut out by the impressive central defensive pairing of Will Antwi and Tom Cadmore.

It was 'Cads' that almost bagged the second goal with 15 minutes remaining, when he got his head to a sweet Matt Phillips cross.

Ogbuagu capped off a marvellous team performance deep into injury time when he powered through the Albion defence before calmly slotting home to double the Chairboys' lead.

Manager Paul Lambert was watching from the stands and he, Ian Culverhouse and Richard Dobson are understood to be delighted with a display that defied the age and experience gap between the two sides.

'Cully' said: "It was a great, total team performance. The way the young lads played speaks volumes and the more experienced pros such as 'Youngy' and Will Antwi played well considering how hard it is to motivate yourself for those games.

"The youngsters have been great this season, I don't think people realise how exciting they could be. This is a marvellous time for the football club."
