Blues' reserve team strolled to an excellent 3-0 victory over Millwall on Tuesday evening with returning defender Will Antwi amongst the scorers, wwfc.com can reveal.
The onlooking Wanderers management team would have been hugely impressed with the performances of the club's second string as they proved that they are ready to step into first-team action should they be required after a dominant display against the Lions at Adams Park.
With Stefan Oakes and Will Antwi joining the likes of Sam Stockley, John Sutton and Mike Williamson in the starting line-up, Wanderers were simply too strong for a visiting side which included experienced pros such as Neil Harris, Adrian Forbes and Richard Shaw in their ranks, and goals from youngster Daniel Fitchett and Martin Bullock wrapped up the victory in the second-half after a 25th minute header from Antwi.
Wanderers began the game brightly with forward Daniel Fitchett heading over in the first minute and striker John Sutton hitting the target moments later as Ian Culverhouse's side looked to build on an excellent win at Watford last week.
A succession of corners for the home side ensured that Wycombe were always on the front foot, and a flag-kick in the 25th minute brought about the opening goal when Antwi, returning to the side for the first time since picking up an injury in December, looped a header over Preston Edwards in the Millwall goal.
Wycombe remained on top at both ends of the pitch, with Jamie Young proving that he is a more than able deputy to Frank Fielding with a composed display in and around his own penalty area, while Dan Fitchett was causing a number of problems for the Lions' backline.
Young was called into action when Daniel Keen fired goalwards after cutting inside, but it was the Wanderers who looked more likely to add to their tally when Chris Palmer fired over and Dan Fitchett was denied by an offside flag as the Blues finished the first half on top.
Michael Noone produced the first real effort of the second period when he fired over the bar on 50 minutes but Wycombe continued going forward and another disallowed goal, this time from Bullock, prevented the lead from being doubled.
But the second goal came just past the hour mark when Stefan Oakes delivered an excellent ball over the Lions' defence for Chris Palmer to latch on to, and the former Notts County wideman squared the ball selflessly to Dan Fitchett, who had the simple task of slotting the ball into an empty net.
Barely four minutes had passed when two became three, as Martin Bullock produced a smart finish from a Chris Palmer through-ball to end the game as a contest, and although Fitchett and Millwall's Neil Harris both had late chances to find the net, Wanderers were able to celebrate a comprehensive victory as referee Farries brought an end to proceedings.
