38-year-old Ainsworth is the club captain and finished the 2010/11 campaign with 11 goals - the second highest at the club - earning himself a place in the PFA League 2 Team of the Year.
The right-midfielder signed for the club on an 18-month contract in February 2010 following a successful loan spell from QPR, where he had spent seven years at Championship and League 1 level.
Formerly of Preston, Port Vale and Wimbledon, Ainsworth reached his 500th professional appearance last season and was rewarded with a one-year contract extension in the summer.
