The 26 year old had impressed the manager with a series of fine displays towards the end of last season and indeed it was he who belted the winner against the Blues in February, a goal that put a serious dent in Wanderers Play Off hopes. Oakes has seen his career take a nosedive after bursting onto the Premiership scene with Leicester City. Brother of former LutonTown hero Scott, he was loaned out to Crewe Alexandra and eventually signed for Walsall on a free transfer in July 2003. However, after failing to make an impact at the Bescot Stadium he moved to Notts County less than a year later and following an impressive season for the Magpies Gorman swooped to secure the set piece specialist on a two year deal. | |
