Considered one of the club's brightest young prospects, Matt Phillips burst onto the scene at the end of the 2007/08 season - putting in some sparkling displays against Bradford City and Stockport County.
A pacey winger, 'Matty' has proved a constant thorn in the side of opposition defences with his speed and skill, which is one of the reasons why, with one year still left of his youth team apprenticeship, former boss Peter Taylor offered the youngster the chance to sign professional papers in the summer of 2008.
The Aylesbury lad featured heavily in Taylor's plans last season, both starting and as an impact player off the bench, and Phillips rewarded his manager's faith with three goals in League Two and another in the FA Cup, as he made a total of 39 appearances.
The young starlet signed an extended contract with the Chairboys after the club's promotion to League One - which will keep him at Adams Park until the summer of 2011 - but this doesn't seem to have affected him, as he continues to work hard and feature in the vast majority of games for the Blues.
The youngster - who turns 19 in March - has in fact made almost as many starts in the first half of this campaign as he did throughout the whole of last season and has added to his goal tally in spectacular fashion, capping a dazzling run with a 20 yard screamer in the home win over Bristol Rovers.
