A promising young midfielder, Lewis became former manager Peter Taylor's first signing of the summer ahead of the 2009/10 campaign.
Montrose began his career at Wigan Athletic, though injury restricted his first team appearances at the JJB Stadium.
Loan spells at Cheltenham Town and Chesterfield proved a valuable opportunity for the Manchester native to prove his worth, including an impressive performance against the Chairboys in the 1-1 draw at Adams Park last March.
He arrived at Wanderers boasting glowing plaudits from numerous coaches at the Latics and got an early run in the side courtesy of some injuries to key players.
Since then he has played some good football for the reserves and despite picking up a knee injury, he will surely be looking for a more prolonged experience of first team football upon his recovery.
