Popular Australian keeper Jamie Young began his career with Reading and represented the England Under-20 team courtesy of his parents' nationality, before enjoying a successful loan spell with Rushden and Diamonds in the 2005/06 campaign.
Former Blues boss Paul Lambert made Young one of his first signings at Adams Park, signing the keeper on a one-year deal following his release from Reading in 2006, and his contract was extended until 2010 after a string of fine performances in his debut season. A knee injury sidelined the keeper for most of the 2007/08 campaign but he returned to full fitness towards the end of the season.
Young made 15 league appearances for the Blues towards the end of the 2008/09 season, steering a record breaking defence to promotion and keeping eight clean sheets in the process.
The return to fitness and form of Scott Shearer has seen the 24-year-old's chances this term limited to one league start - along with appearances in the Carling Cup and Johnstone's Paint Trophy - yet the charismatic glovesman remains an able deputy and somewhat of a cult hero at the club, with his regular website blogs and unusual music taste winning over the hearts of the Wanderers support.
