Wanderers succumbed to a last-gasp leveller from Rory Boulding as Accrington Stanley grabbed an unlikely point at the Crown Ground after Matt Bloomfield's 65th minute opener.

Bloomfield slammed home from close range after fine work from Kevin Betsy and the Blues' defence looked to have held firm to claim a first away victory of the campaign.

However, it wasn't to be as Lewis Montrose headed Chris Turner's cross towards his own goal and Boulding tapped home unmarked to claim a share of the points.

Gary Waddock had named an unchanged side for the trip to the north-west, with Ben Strevens and Scott Rendell continuing their partnership up-front.

Accrington were the first to threaten on 13 minutes when Jimmy Ryan curled an effort over Nikki Bull's bar after smart play from the adventurous Jonathan Bateson.

Wycombe's response was immediate. Firstly, Ben Strevens' cross-shot had to be cleared off the line by Philip Edwards after he was picked out by Matt Bloomfield, before the latter's shot was deflected into the arms of Ian Dunbavin.

John Coleman's men, who were looking to preserve their eight-hour sequence without conceding, regained a foothold in the game and went closest to opening the scoring just before the half hour mark.

The lively Sean McConville raced onto Bateson's ball before his fierce drive across goal was superbly tipped onto the bar by Bull.

That seemed to crank up the tempo as both sides went insight of the opener. Trying to replicate the famous Beckham-Scholes corner, McConville picked out Ryan on the edge of the box but the midfielder couldn't hit the target.

The spectacular efforts didn't end there though, as Scott Rendell lashed an effort off the top of the crossbar from 25 yards after an excellent lay-off by Ben Strevens, as an entertaining first-half finished goalless.

Accrington started the better of the two sides after interval and the visitors had Nikki Bull to thank for keeping the scores level, denying Andy Parkinson with his legs before clawing out Jimmy Ryan's low free-kick with a fine save away to his left.

And Stanley were rueing those missed chances when their clean sheet record was ended by Bloomfield's close range finish on 65 minutes, handing Wycombe the lead after fine work by Kevin Betsy on the left wing.

Betsy's persistence paid off when he ran at Jonathan Bateson and laid the ball on a plate for Bloomfield, who made no mistake despite the presence of Sean Hessey on the goalline.

Having dropped two points from a winning position against Northampton the previous week, Wycombe needed their defence to stand firm, and Stanley found chances hard to come by.

In fact, the lead should have been doubled with six minutes remaining when substitute Jon-Paul Pittman and Kevin Betsy both passed up the opportunity to shoot from close range, instead opting to work the ball out to Matt Bloomfield who stabbed wide when he should have done better.

And it proved to be costly, as Chris Turner's cross found its way to an unmarked Boulding with only seconds left on the clock, and the substitute made no mistake to ensure that the Blues dropped two points for the second consecutive weekend.
