Wanderers suffered a home defeat to Milton Keynes Dons on Saturday as a goal from Mathias Doumbe on the stroke of half-time won the points for Paul Ince's men.
The visitors enjoyed the better of the opening period and Wycombe were grateful to Scott Shearer for a couple of fine saves to deny Darren Powell and Jason Puncheon, but Doumbe opened the scoring when his run from right-back went unchallenged and he fired home from the edge of the box.
A triple substitution by Peter Taylor at the interval breathed life into the home team with Kevin Betsy, Jon-Paul Pittman and Matt Phillips contributing to a vastly improved display in the second half, and Pittman and Stuart Green both came close to levelling the scores.
However, they were thwarted by a resilient Dons defence as the visitors held on for the points, and Wanderers will now be looking to bounce back when they head to Swindon Town next Saturday.
