IAN CULVERHOUSE
Ian Culverhouse became Assistant Manager to Peter Taylor in the summer of 2008 after previously working as Youth Team Coach and Head Coach.
'Cully' joined the youth set-up at Wycombe Wanderers in July 2005, taking over from Gary Smith in charge of the Under-18s. Smith, a former player for the Blues, had taken up the post of Assistant Academy Director at Watford, and Culverhouse stepped into the role with previous coaching experience at Brighton, Swindon, Barnet and Leyton Orient, where had been First Team Coach.
Having started his playing career at Tottenham Hotspur in 1982, 'Cully' was unable to break into the first team at White Hart Lane and moved east to Norwich City in 1985 for £50,000. Despite experiencing a slow start to his career at Carrow Road, the right-back soon became a regular in the first eleven, featuring in the Canaries' UEFA Cup campaign, although he only ever scored one league goal in the 297 appearances he made at City. In 2002, he was voted the best-ever right back to play for the club and made the all-time Norwich City best XI.
A £150,000 move to Swindon Town followed in 1995, but he was released from the County Ground in 1998 and finished his playing career at Kingstonian and Brighton, where he took up a coaching role on his retirement from the playing side.
Ian has overseen an impressive campaign for the Wanderers Youth Team in 2006-07, and three of his side - Stuart Cattell, Alan Massey and Robert Rice - were awarded professional contracts in April.
Following the departures of coaches Steve Brown and Keith Ryan in the summer of 2007, Ian was promoted to the role of 'Head Coach' of Wycombe Wanderers, to work closely alongside manager Paul Lambert.
Lambert resigned from the Adams Park club in May 2008 but Culverhouse was retained at the club as assistant manager to the incoming Peter Taylor.
