Having started a degree in Professional Sports Writing and Broadcasting over the summer, Wanderers midfielder Matt Bloomfield has agreed to pen a new series of blogs exclusively for wwfc.com. Read the third installment below.
Welcome back to Blooms' blog!
We all came off the pitch very disappointed at conceding three minutes from time last Saturday at Northampton. We got ourselves in a great position away from home courtesy of a top drawer free-kick from Sands but couldn't hold on. It wasn't a performance full of the passing, attacking football that we want to play, but we had a couple of good chances to extend our lead before the equaliser.
Six points from four games has given us a solid start to the season and something to build on. We always want to improve on performances and results, and we have been working hard on the training ground this week ahead of the game at Accrington.
The trip to Accrington will provide big Dave Winfield a chance to take part in his own 'initiation' after missing the trip to Stockport with a hamstring injury. The lads are looking forward to it, but if big Dave doesn't fancy it I certainly won't be arguing with him!
The trip will also see the return of the 'Kevin Betsy quiz'. There are several of the new boys that don't know about Kev's quiz so it should be interesting to see who performs well. It's a great way to pass the journey but you have to be very careful about who is sitting on your table come quiz time!
Matty Phillips made his move to Blackpool on deadline day and it's a fantastic opportunity for him. I know that no one at the club wanted him to leave but understood that this was a great chance for him to move to a Premier League club. Matt has been brilliant for us over the last couple of seasons since he broke into the first team and thoroughly deserves his chance. He showed over the summer for England U19s that he has what it takes to make the step up.

One person who is not very happy about losing his mate is Lewis Montrose. Monty has been a bit lost this week without Matty! You would often see them doing weights or sit-ups together, or having a bit of a sing-along. Monty will also have to find himself a new room mate on Friday.
There has been a lot of discussion about 'player power' over the last couple of weeks. Players that refuse to play for their clubs in order to gain a transfer is not something that I agree with. The club pays their wages and provides them with the opportunity to become the player that is now desirable to other clubs.
On the other side of the coin what is the best course of action for the club to take? Keep paying an unhappy player thousands of pounds a week, who is worth millions in the transfer market, or cash in and use the money to buy players who want to be there. It's not something that you see lower down the ladder where the money and so called 'player power' is totally different.
