WADDOCK: BRILLIANT BULL

Posted on: Mon 16 Aug 2010

Gary Waddock says that goalkeeper Nikki Bull is as important as a prolific striker after his man-of-the-match performance against Stockport on Saturday.

Bull made a number of key saves to help the Blues to their first ever clean sheet at Edgeley Park.

"He made an unbelievable save in a one on one situation and then a fantastic save from a free kick," said Waddock.

"He is vital. He is as important as a 20-goal a season striker and he put in a fine performance."

Waddock made Bull his first signing of the summer back in June after the stoppers' decision to leave League One side Brentford.

The pair had previously worked together at Aldershot to great effect as the Shots captured the Conference title in 2008 and Waddock believes the 29-year-old will be key to the Blues' fortunes this season.

"I've worked with him before and I knew how important he would be, and already he has picked up some important points for us."
