With competition for places hotting up after Saturday's 2-0 victory over Morecambe, Blues boss Gary Waddock has promised to make changes for Tuesday's visit of Millwall in the Carling Cup.

He told wwfc.com: "I'll be sending out a strong team because this is a game we want to win, but I want to have a look at some of the players who didn't make the starting XI on Saturday.

"We now have real strength-in-depth with alternatives for every position and I intend using my squad to the full."

Players like Jon-Paul Pittman, Matty Phillips and Keiran Murtagh are likely to come into the manager's thoughts after making a big impact as second half substitutes against Morecambe. Said Waddock: 'We had real quality on the bench on Saturday and that helped us to win the game when Morecambe were threatening to snatch an equaliser.

"We now have the competition for places that I've been looking for and with Andy Sandell and Stuart Beavon both close to fitness, we're almost at full strength."

Waddock is taking the tie with Millwall seriously: "Doing well in League Two is obviously our main priority, but we want to win every game we play and tomorrow is no exception," he said.

"Millwall will provide a real test - they won promotion last season and they had a great result at Bristol City on Saturday on their first game back in the Championship. They're a strong, well organised team from two divisions higher than ourselves and it should be a good indication of how much we've improved from last season."
