Having started a degree in Professional Sports Writing and Broadcasting over the summer, Wanderers midfielder Matt Bloomfield has agreed to pen a new series of blogs exclusively for wwfc.com. Read the first installment below.
Hello everyone and welcome to Blooms' blog!
I have to start by saying how much the boys are looking forward to the start of the season. There is an air of optimism amongst the lads and everyone has been doing everything they can to be in the starting eleven on Saturday.
"I am excited about the new season more than any other since I have been at the club."

Morecambe is the first game of a long season and we want to put on a good show at home and get us off to a winning start. It's going to be a tough game and they are going to want to put right their disappointment of losing out in the play-offs last season.
On a personal level I am obviously delighted to have signed a new contract in the summer, and I am excited about the new season more than any other since I have been at the club.
Last season was a major disappointment to everybody involved but I think the way we battled and performed towards the end of the season gave us reason to look forward to the coming season. The boys that the 'gaffer' signed in the summer have all settled in really well and there is competition for places in every position.

I think I had about ten days resting and kicking my heels at home after the end of last season before I had to get into the gym. I get a bit restless and it's obviously important to try and stay in shape, especially when you know you have got the yo-yo test waiting for you on the first day back!
I managed to have a weekend at Center Parcs with my family, a relaxing two weeks in Zante with my girlfriend and I spent a week at Staffordshire University starting a degree in Professional Sports Writing and Broadcasting. I lived in the Uni halls leading the Uni life! We had an intense week but I thoroughly enjoyed it.
We ended the week being assessed on a three-minute radio sports bulletin and I have just been back to finish my two-minute TV package. It's interesting to be the other side of the camera and it certainly involves a lot more work than I realised. I have to report to the Uni one day a month and do the rest of the course as distance learning.
I also managed to have a day at the first test against Bangladesh at Lord's. I love watching cricket and boring the lads with cricket talk, and I think we are in good shape leading up to the Ashes this winter!
Thanks for reading,
Blooms.
