Wycombe Wanderers are delighted to pledge their support to Marie Curie Cancer Care, the Official Charity Partner of the Football League for the 2010/11 campaign.
The Football League's partnership with Marie Curie aims to raise £500,000 over the course of the year, funding at least 25,000 hours of free nursing care for patients with terminal illnesses. Marie Curie Cancer Care gives people the chance to spend their final days in the comfort of their own home, in the company of friends and family.
Supporters across the country are now being urged to get involved and back the new partnership in order to help achieve the partnership fundraising goal. John Nagle, Head of Communications at The Football League and an avid Blues fan, said: "The Football League is proud to be working with Marie Curie Cancer Care this season and it is fantastic to see Wycombe Wanderers engaging with their fans to assist the fundraising effort.
"Support from clubs is essential in helping us reach the fundraising target of £500,000 and I would encourage fans and clubs to help in any way possible."
Victoria Martin, a local fundraiser for Marie Curie Cancer Care, said: "I have witnessed how important the Marie Curie Nursing service can be for families. Each year our nurses provide over one million hours of free nursing care to terminally ill people in their own homes - the equivalent of more than 402 Football League seasons' worth of football - but we want to reach more people".
"With Wycombe Wanderers fans doing their bit to help, the benefits of this partnership will last a long time after the final whistle of the season has gone."
