A new-look Wycombe squad have prompted plenty of cause for optimism with an incredible return of 28 goals in their pre-season campaign, and Waddock hopes his side can carry that form into the league campaign when it kicks off at the weekend:

"Our preparations have been good and the players have worked extremely hard," he said. "Everyone will judge how successful pre-season has been when we play Morecambe, but we're in a good position and the lads are keen to get started.

"Hopefully the fans have enjoyed what they've seen so far and there's more to come from us. It'd be great to see a big crowd for the first game and more importantly, we want to give them something to cheer about by collecting all three points.

"It's nice to start the season at home but it will only be nice if we get off to a positive start. The fans have been right behind us and there should be a great atmosphere - we're all looking forward to it."
