Goals from Lee Weemes and Stuart Green helped a youthful Wycombe side beat Burnham 2-1 at The Gore this evening.
Wanderers, who included new signing Marvin McCoy and trialist Rene Steer in their starting line-up, took the lead on 27 minutes when Weemes latched onto Dan Fitchett's through ball before poking the ball past Burnham's keeper.
However, the hosts were level six minutes later when a backtracking Leon Johnson headed the ball over his own keeper Steve Arnold and into an empty net.
Richard Dobson's men responded well and went close on a couple of occasions before the break, while at the other end Arnold saved well from a free-kick.
Wanderers were back in front two minutes into the second half after a well-worked move. Patient build-up in midfield created the space to find Weemes on the left wing whose cross was turned home by Green at the back post.
A dominant Chairboys side should have increased their lead as the period progressed, but they couldn't open up that two-goal cushion which would have made the closing stages of their fourth win in pre-season that little bit easier.
Dobson said: "It was a good workout. The young players need the experience of playing against men in order to progress as players, tonight was perfect for that."
