REPORT: BLUES 1-2 READING

Posted on: Sat 24 Jul 2010
Wycombe suffered a narrow 2-1 loss to Reading in the Blues' first pre-season friendly on home turf, with Gylfi Sigurdsson's penalty and Hal Robson-Kanu's finish turning the game around after Jon-Paul Pittman's 8th minute opener.

The livewire striker latched on to a smart quickly-taken free-kick by Ian Westlake to slot the ball under the keeper and spring a surprise on the Championship promotion hopefuls.

But Jobi McAnuff won a penalty for the Royals after a push from Blues trialist Liam Bridcutt and Sigurdsson dispatched the spot-kick confidently.

The Icelandic midfielder then won another spot-kick moments later when Alan Bennett brought him down in the box, but this time Nikki Bull made a fine save on his home debut to keep the scores level.

However, the visitors weren't to be denied a second and they went ahead when Noel Hunt's fine cross was turned home by Robson-Kanu from inside the six-yard box.
