PHILLIPS STARTS BUT ENGLAND LOSE

Posted on: Wed 21 Jul 2010
Blues starlet Matt Phillips played 72 minutes as England U19s succumbed to a narrow 1-0 defeat to Holland in the European Championships this evening.

The winger was handed a start by head coach Noel Blake after an impressive qualifying campaign which saw score on his full debut in the 4-0 win over Bosnia & Herzegovina.

Despite the defeat the Young Lions can still secure a semi-final spot with a win over hosts France on Saturday.

You can watch Matt and his team-mates in action live on Eurosport from 5pm.

England: Rudd; Clyne, Baker, Caulker, Brown; Phillips (Noble 72), Parrett, James, Mellis (Donaldson 83); Nouble, Delfouneso.

Unused subs: Nicholls, Briggs, Cruise, Thompson, Bostock.
