'WE'RE HEADING IN RIGHT DIRECTION'

Posted on: Sun 24 Oct 2010
Gary Waddock believes his new-look squad are "heading in the right direction".

Waddock's comments came after Saturday's 3-1 friendly win over Hayes & Yeading, where a first half blitz saw off the Blues' Blue Square Premier Bet opponents.

Scott Rendell scored his first goal in the quarters either side of two smart finishes from fans' favourite Kevin Betsy.

The Chairboys chief said: "The first half was very good, we passed the ball around really well and it was very encouraging.

"The passing, the movement and the finishing was of the highest quality. Bets has taken his goals well and it was nice that Scotty scored as well.

"You can't get carried away but the players have done extremely well.

"There is competition and we have options. We can use different formations and systems because we have the players that are able to adapt to it."

Wanderers step up their pre-season programme this week with a trip to npower League 1 side Brentford on Tuesday before welcoming Berkshire neighbours Reading to Adams Park on Saturday.

Waddock said. "We have gradually improved the opposition and we have two really important games for fitness coming up now but we are heading in the right direction."
