Scott Rendell joked that Wycombe's first half performance in the 3-1 win over Hayes & Yeading was on a par with World Cup winners Spain.
Rendell scored the second and set up two for Kevin Betsy as the Blues turned in a confident and high-tempo display at Church Road, leaving Wanderers' no. 9 a happy man.
"It was enjoyable," he told
wwfc.com. "All pre-season games are hard but you get out of it what you put into it. In the first half we showed what a good team we are.
"Every striker wants to score his first goal for his new club, it's a good feeling and I want to kick on now.
"The three goals were brilliant and we were playing like Spain! Some of the passing and the movement was ridiculous.
"The way the boys found time and space was fantastic, that's what we want to take into the season.
"I knew before I signed the gaffer (Gary Waddock) wanted to play football and it's turned out that way. We want to go forward and score goals."
The former Peterborough striker showed signs of forming a potent partnership with ex-Crawley Town team-mate Ben Strevens, and Rendell feels the strength of the striking department bodes well for the season ahead.
He said: "We know a bit about each other which makes it a lot easier. I thought we linked up well and had some good moves. The standard of training has been fantastic, there's great competition for places and we want to have a great season.
"We've got some fantastic players here already, there is lots of quality in the squad and it will stand us in good stead."
