GARY: FANTASTIC FEDERICO

Posted on: Fri 16 Jul 2010
Blues boss Gary Waddock has praised Jerome Federico after the youngster's impressive debut in Tuesday's 3-0 pre-season friendly win over Chesham United.

Federico was a constant threat at the Meadow, running at defenders and delivering a number of teasing crosses into Chesham's 18-yard box.

The 18-year-old is the latest in a long line of players to have progressed through the ranks at Adams Park, following the likes of Matt Phillips and Kadeem Harris into the first-team set-up.

"He did alright for a young lad didn't he!" Waddock joked. "We've got good wide players at the club. You can talk about (Kevin) Betsy, Gaz (Ainsworth), Matt Phillips, Kadeem (Harris), who played last year in the first-team, and now Jerome's shown everybody what he's about.

"He's very quick, direct and you wouldn't want to be up against him in a one-on-one situation purely and simply because of his pace.

"What we've tried to do with the young players is introduce them into the group and give them that experience to help them develop. I'm pleased with how they are coming on."
