BIG MATCH PREVIEW: CARLISLE

Posted on: Fri 05 Mar 2010

Wanderers will be looking to put Saturday's 4-3 defeat to bottom club Stockport County behind them when they welcome Carlisle United to Adams Park on Saturday (k.o. 3pm).

The loss at Edgeley Park ended a three-game unbeaten run for the Blues but, with the weekend results going Wycombe's way, Gary Waddock's men go into the clash with the Cumbrians still only four points off safety with 12 games remaining.

Chairboys Player Gary's full interview

Talking to Chairboys Player, Waddock said: "There are going to be games between now and the end of the season where we aren't going to perform or get the right result, and that was the case at Stockport.

"We played well in the lead up to that game, but we have to make sure we bounce back and take something from the home game with Carlisle.

"We have to win; it's as simple as that. They are a good side and they've done well this year, but our aim is to get the three points from the game and move up the table."

Carlisle arrive in Buckinghamshire on the back of a morale boosting 2-0 home win over strugglers Gillingham on Tuesday, a result which saw them hit the 40-point barrier and move up to 13th in the League One table.

However, the Cumbrians' form of only three wins in 11 league games will give Wycombe hope.

Opposition View:

Carlisle boss Greg Abbott, speaking to the media ahead of the game:

Chairboys Player Abbott previews Wycombe

He said: "It will be a typically tough League One game.

"We are expected to go down there and get something out of the game and we have to live up to that.

"These games aren't easy, and Wycombe will be no different. Wycombe are fighting for their lives and they still have plenty of points to play for."

Team News:

Wycombe: Matt Harrold and Matt Phillips are pushing for starting spots after impressing as second half substitutes at Stockport last weekend. Gareth Ainsworth serves the final game of a three-match suspension, whereas Leon Johnson (knee) and Ian Westlake (ankle) remain sidelined.

Carlisle: Greg Abbott will wait on midfielder Marc Bridge-Wilkinson's fitness after he bruised his toe in training. Forward Ben Marshall is in contention after extending his loan from Stoke and Adam Collin will play in goal again in place of the injured Lenny Pidgeley.
