GORMAN: "WYCOMBE NEED THE POINTS"

Posted on: Wed 03 Mar 2010
John Gorman hopes the Blues can get one over on another of his former sides Carlisle United on Saturday.

The hugely popular footballing figure managed Wycombe between 2004-2006 and spent six seasons as a player at Brunton Park at the beginning of the 1970s.

Speaking exclusively to wwfc.com from Spain, Gorman said: "I enjoyed my time at both clubs, but Wycombe need the points more than Carlisle this weekend to try and pull away from the bottom.

"I had an enjoyable time at Carlisle but I hope to see Wycombe pull it off on this occasion because I don't want them to go down. It's an important game for them."

Gorman, 60, was in the Adams Park crowd for the clash with Southampton, and it's fair to say he was suitably impressed with not only the display but also the way Gary Waddock has got his side playing.

He said: "It was an emotional few days because it was the anniversary of my wife Myra passing away, but it was nice to come back to Adams Park, as it always is. Everyone made me feel very welcome, especially AP (Alan Parry), Steve (Hayes) and Ivor (Beeks).

"Wycombe played well on the night and, in my opinion, deserved to win the match.

"Gary has always tried to play football the right way - he's a disciple of the game."
