GARY CALLS FOR CHAIRBOYS

Posted on: Tue 02 Mar 2010

Gary Waddock has called on Chairboys fans to show their support for the club by turning up in droves for Saturday's crunch game with Carlisle United.

The Blues boss is a great believer in the '12th man effect' and has reiterated the crucial role the Adams Park faithful have to play in Wanderers' fight against relegation.

He told wwfc.com today: "We gave the fans something to cheer about against Millwall and Southampton, but we didn't at Stockport on Saturday.

"The performance wasn't good enough and even if we'd gone onto to win the game I still wouldn't have been happy.

"We have 12 games left, six of which are at Adams Park, and we need to treat them like cup finals. Saturday's result hasn't helped, but we are still confident we can get out of the position we're in."

Four points from a possible six in the last two outings at Adams Park has given the players renewed confidence on home turf and Waddock says that - combined with the fans' support - could be pivotal against Carlisle.

He said: "We've proved that we can match the likes of Millwall and Southampton and we need to show the same commitment, desire and determination on Saturday.

"The fans have been great since Martin (Kuhl) and I joined the club and your continued support hasn't gone unnoticed by the players.

"I urge as many of you as possible to come down to Adams Park on Saturday and recreate the superb atmosphere we had against Millwall and Southampton."
