Blues boss Gary Waddock contacted wwfc.com on Wednesday morning to deliver a personal message of thanks to the Wycombe support, following their "superb" backing of his side in Tuesday's 0-0 draw with Southampton.
The arrival of the former Premier League side drew a crowd of 6,232 to Adams Park, with both sets of fans contributing to an excellent atmosphere around the stadium, and Waddock was still buzzing from the home support when he spoke to the club's official website earlier today:
"I just want to place on record my huge appreciation for the superb support that the team has received, not just last night but over the four months that Martin (Kuhl) and I have been here," he said.
"We knew it was going to be a tough match but the players and supporters all rose to the occasion and contributed to a terrific atmosphere. There's a great feel around the club and somebody even said to me last night 'you wouldn't know we're a club sitting 23rd in the table!', which was nice to hear.
"Now we need everyone to keep pulling in the same direction and do everything they can to help this club stay in the division. We've got a great set of honest, hard-working players, and there's an excellent fanbase as well which means more to us than a lot of people might realise.
"I've always said that we need to give the fans something to cheer about and I think we're doing that now. So once again I'd like to thank the fans for their continued support and long may it continue," he added.
