Defender Alan Bennett says he is ready to take a big bite of league football as a Blue, having joined the club for the next month from League One rivals Brentford.
The 28-year-old - who has been capped twice by the Republic of Ireland - confesses that the prospect of more regular football was certainly a considerable factor behind his move to Buckinghamshire, but freely admits that there were other aspects which also influenced his decision.
"First of all there's the manager; second of all, my own situation - I really just want to play games - and thirdly I want to get involved in the fight to try and keep Wycombe up," he told Chairboys Player.
"I just want to get stuck in and get to know the lads and I'm really looking forward to getting my teeth into some games."
However, the Cork-born centre-back is taking nothing for granted in terms of a place in the starting XI, and despite injuries to Adam Hinshelwood and Leon Johnson, he will still have to contend with Chris Westwood and Luke Oliver for a place at the heart of defence.
And having watched the pair perform well at the weekend against his parent club, Bennett knows that his task will be far from easy.
"They [Westwood and Oliver] did really well to be fair against Brentford's front two," he said.
"Of course there's going to be competition in every football club and it's no different here, so I'm just really looking forward to it; it's an opportunity for me, so I'm just hoping to grab it."
The Irishman could still get his first opportunity in a Wanderers shirt against Millwall on Saturday, and with another big match coming just three days later against one of his former sides Southampton, Bennett is truly excited by the thought of a playing in a big 'double header' at Adams Park.
He said: "Millwall and Southampton should be two big games. Southampton have had a really really good season and they've acquired quite a squad as well, so it will be a really good game and obviously there's Millwall first on Saturday, who are in the promotion mix.
"These are the tests, these are why you want to come down here and this is where I want to play."
