BOSS HAPPY WITH DEBUT DISPLAYS

Posted on: Mon 15 Feb 2010
Gary Waddock has praised Tom Heaton and Kevin McLeod for their debut displays in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Brentford.

The pair were outstanding in their respective positions as the Blues dominated the League One clash at Griffin Park.

Goalkeeper Heaton (pictured right) signed on loan from Manchester United on Friday, whereas left-midfielder McLeod (pictured below) arrived at Adams Park on a free transfer from Brighton & Hove Albion on deadline day.

On Heaton's performance, Waddock said: "He's a good goalkeeper and it was a big decision to bring him in because Scott Shearer has been a big part of the club and what it's achieved in recent years so it was a big call.

"Early on you could see how confident he was and how he commands his box really well."

Magic McLeod: The midfielder was awesome on his debut

On McLeod's display, he commented: "I thought he was a threat throughout and caused them problems."

The Blues boss also singled out centre-back Luke Oliver for praise.

Waddock said: "He came in for some criticism last week but he stood up to the challenge today and it takes a lot to do that when fingers are pointing at you."
