Josh Payne's stunning debut strike at Southend United on Saturday has earned him place in the League One 'Team of the Week'.

The on-loan West Ham United youngster's sweetly struck 25-yard drive secured a share of the spoils in his first outing for Gary Waddock's men, after Alan McCormack had given the hosts the lead on the hour mark.

Talking after the 1-1 draw at Roots Hall, Payne said: "I never normally score! However, when I was on loan at Cheltenham I also scored a debut goal - it must be one of those things. I'm not really a goalscorer but I'll take that one.
"It was nice to get the boys back in the match in my first game for the club."
