WADDOCK: "RAISE IT AGAIN"

Posted on: Sat 16 Jan 2010
Gary Waddock has called on his players to once again "raise their game" for the visit of promotion hopefuls Charlton Athletic.

Wanderers held league leaders Leeds United to a 1-1 draw at the weekend and Waddock wants the Blues to build on their display in Yorkshire at Adams Park on Saturday.

Talking to Chairboys Player, he said: "We did great up at Leeds and gained a valuable point. The performance was really, really good, but now the challenge is to continue producing performances like that.

"The good thing is we are playing against another top side on Saturday. Hopefully the players won't be flat after the Leeds display because they will have to raise their game again against a good Charlton side.

"They shouldn't need any motivation at all. We've got 20 games left and we've got to make sure we work as hard as we can to move away from the position we currently find ourselves in."

Waddock stunned Simon Grayson's men with a three-pronged attack at the weekend, a formation the former Premier League giants never got to grips with.

And the 47-year-old is keeping the Addicks guessing regarding his side's shape for Saturday's game.

He said: "The formation and line-up could change because it's a different game against a different team.

"The players are the ones that make a system work, however, they have to continue showing the same commitment and desire as they have been doing to make whatever formation we go with work. One thing is for sure though; we will take the game to them.

"We're in front our own crowd and they will spur us on. Hopefully we can get a result against a Charlton side who are pushing for promotion."
