PITTMAN PLEASED TO MAKE MARK

Posted on: Mon 11 Jan 2010
All the talk before the game was about Jermaine Beckford, but it was Wanderers' frontman Jon-Paul Pittman who stole the show at Elland Road.

Pittman's 62nd minute equaliser not only capped off a stunning personal performance but also ensured the Blues came away from the clash with the league leaders with a deserved draw.

A jubilant 'JP' said: "Coming to such a massive club and making your mark on things is great but, as a team, we can't rest on things and we must look forward.

"I don't think we've worked as hard all season and we were unlucky not to come away with all three points.

"The result will give us a great boost, but we've got to build on it. We've set the standard and now we've got to match it.

"If we keep working and playing like that then I'm sure we'll take some victories when we come up against some of the lesser teams.

"Shears (Scott) was flying around keeping things out, the defence were solid, the midfield worked their socks off and up top we had quite decent movement and good creativity, so all in all the fans can be pleased. We are all very pleased."

Understandably, JP was delighted with his eighth goal of the season and he was quick to state his desire to add to his tally as he looks to fire the Blues away from the drop zone.

"It's the goals you score everywhere, at the little grounds and the big grounds, that will help us get out of this position.

"My goal means I can go home, not beat myself up about missing too many chances and have a nice glass of coke!"
