BETSY: WE CAN WIN ANYWHERE

Posted on: Sat 12 Dec 2009

Wanderers winger Kevin Betsy feels the Blues have taken a great deal of confidence from their recent away victory at Millwall and believes the club can repeat the feat at Carlisle United on Saturday (k.o. 3pm).

The on-loan Southend United man scored the second goal in the 2-0 win at the New Den and now reckons he and his team-mates can put up a fight against anyone in the division:

"Millwall was a fantastic professional away performance and we can now be positive going into the game at Carlisle," he told Chairboys Player. "They'll have a good crowd who are passionate about their football and get behind their team, but hopefully we can play our football and quieten the crowd.

"We showed a very good performance against Millwall, which is one of the most intimidating places to go to, so if we can do it there, we can do it anywhere."

The win in South London was a just reward for the Blues squad, who had produced a string of impressive performances under manager Gary Waddock without recording victories, and Betsy feels the new boss deserves plenty of credit for stopping the rot:

"We've seen in the last six or seven weeks that apart from the Huddersfield game we've been a playing a lot better.

"We were unlucky not to get results but we've been doing that in the last few weeks, and last week (against Stockport) when we were 1-0 down we showed fantastic character and belief to get back in the game. It's a great credit to the management staff for instilling that in the players," he added.

However, the Blues' impressive run will be put to the test against a Carlisle side who are gradually climbing the table following a strong run of form themselves, and Betsy knows Wycombe will need to be at their best to get a result:

"You want to get a result from every game you go into and Carlisle will be no different, but they're on a good run and they've got some good players we need to be careful of. If we go there in the right frame of mind we can get a result.

"We've got some very good players as well and we'll go into it full of confidence. If we perform like we have been, we can give them a good game."

The long trip north will see Betsy keep his team-mates entertained courtesy of his regular quiz on the team coach, something which he feels will help break up the near 600-mile round trip:

"The lads have been enjoying the quizzes and it gives them something to think about other than their computers! It's a bit of team bonding and it's something a little bit different.

"There's quite a few young lads in this squad whereas in other teams we've had more of a mixture of ages, so you have to tailor the questions for different age groups to make it fair.

"I haven't done it for the last couple of trips because some people don't fancy it but they're usually begging me to bring it on - but then they give me some stick after!"
